CAPSTONE AT THE OAKS GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2023

The Banyan Foundation, Inc. has commenced construction on Capstone at The Oaks, a new multifamily property in Lake Charles, LA, designed to serve the elderly community with 120 units. This development, featuring sustainable and disaster-resilient design, is a collaborative effort with various partners, including the Calcasieu Council on Aging and the Louisiana Housing Corporation, and is expected to be completed by Spring 2025. Capstone at The Oaks aims to provide a supportive living environment with services and amenities that enhance the quality of life for senior residents.

CAPSTONE AT SCOTLANDVILLE GRAND OPENING

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 2, 2023

In December 2021, Capstone at Scotlandville began rehabilitating the former Elm Grove Garden Apartments to modernize its amenities and enhance community and safety features. The project, completed in June 2023 at a cost of $24.3 million, added a playground, fitness center, computer room, walking trail, basketball court, community room, and garden, creating a safe and engaging community for families. In partnership with Partners Southeast and the East Baton Rouge Parish Housing Authority, 84 fully subsidized units were constructed for qualifying families.

CAPSTONE AT BARTON CHAPEL GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY

WEDNESDAY, MAY 10, 2023

Officials and partners gathered to celebrate the grand opening of Capstone at Barton Chapel Apartments in Augusta, Georgia. Originally constructed in 1975, this 100-unit complex underwent a comprehensive renovation beginning in January 2022, revitalizing both interiors and exteriors. The project added new amenities such as a playground, fitness center, computer lab, and community room, significantly enhancing residents' living conditions. This transformation was achieved through partnerships with the City of Augusta, Georgia DCA, HUD, and others. To mark the event, Smoke Show Southern BBQ provided meals, and residents received “sparkle buckets” for maintaining their homes.

HOWELL SCHOOL GRAND OPENING

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2020

The Banyan Foundation and Resource Housing Group have collaborated on the adaptive reuse of Howell School in Dothan, Alabama, transforming it into Howell School Apartments, a 55-unit senior development. The project includes 22 units within the rehabilitated historic building and 33 units in a new construction building, featuring modern amenities and fully accessible units. This landmark, built in 1899, now serves as a residence for Dothan’s senior community, offering a range of amenities including a fitness room, internet lounge, community room, and outdoor pavilion.
